I frequently travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico and can enjoy company.
I am local in Tucson, AZ and the route traveled is I-10 E from Tucson, Arizona, then northerly through Hatch NM. The entire trip with gas stops can be from 6hrs (550 miles) or more if you would like a leasure pace and rest stops. (See Yahoo Maps link below)

I often stay for 2 or 3 days when I travel there. Hotels are readily available there.
