Timing Belts GL1500

Timing belts are due change at 100k miles but low miles and accumulated time especially in extreme climates will drastically reduce the life of your belts.

The belts on the GL1500, as with all other models of Goldwing and without doubt other bikes with belt(s) should not be taken for granted, although belts are not very fragile they do require just consideration.

The materials that today’s belts are made from, hardly show wear at all and therefore are not easily determined serviceable by inspection. In fact it is more likely to observe belts that have 50k-150k and hardly be able to discern them from new ones.

Don’t gamble with you bike and your safety!
If you are the owner of a bike that has more the 100k miles and you are not sure it the belts have been changed you should change them.

If you have a bike that is more than a few years old (3-5 or more) and the mileage is low (even as low as 30k-40k, you may want to consider changing the belts.

I’ve heard of bikes with 150k miles on them without belt changes. But why take the chances with your life and your bike. Belt failure will without a doubt, destroy or at the very least critically damage your engine. Be sure!

Whether you elect to perform the task yourself or pay someone to do it, is not nearly as important as ensuring that it is done.
