A deadly case of road rage is to blame for a traffic accident that killed a Tucson motorcyclist this weekend. The accident happened Saturday, shortly after noon, on Golf Links Road, near Mann Avenue.”I couldn’t believe what happened,” said Nicole Gonzalez, a driver who witnessed the accident. “Somebody would actually go after somebody like that, and cause that, it’s awful.”Tucson police say it all began when Edmond Gonzalez, Jr., 42, was upset over a personal matter and began driving aggressively. A Witnesses say Gonzalez was tailgating, speeding, and weaving between cars, agitating other drivers, including Vince Schoenherr, 45, who was riding his motorcycle nearby. The two briefly argued.”Mr. Schoenherr then attempted to put distance between himself and Mr. Gonzalez,” explained Officer Dallas Wilson, with the Tucson Police Dept. “Mr. Gonzalez then swerved into the motorcycle, causing the crash in the intersection.””I’m a new driver, so I’m really scared about things like that,” said Nicole Gonzalez, who just earned her driver’s license two months ago. She says road rage is a common occurrence on Tucson streets. “I’ll be on the road, and if I do too sharp of a turn, they start honking and chasing up after me, to yell and scream at me.”Edmond Gonzalez, Jr. now faces a charge of second degree murder, and leaving the scene of a fatal traffic accident.
