Hueytown Alabama 2018

Each time I visit I am more conflicted about leaving. Not only are the family in Hueytown hospitable and fun, they also have seemingly endless list of places of interest to visit.

On this trip I was treated to the Motocycle Museum that boast the largest offering of motorcycles in at least North America. This place is amazing! The displays are spacious, openly viewable and varied.

The facility is a sprawling _____ with 5 stories, open air winding walkways and a glass elevator to allow visibility and is capable of moving cars from floor to floor.

The displays included a section of steam powered motorcycles some with piston-rod type “drive-shafts” (think steam train piston drives). Others were gasoline internal combustion with gas torch headlight. Every possible style and possibly every manufacturer of motorcycle was represented. All appeared to be functional… only lacking fluids and a rider!

Big love goes out to Cousin Kristy Rather-Hall and Cousin Ken for thinking of this and making it happen for me.

I must also mention my thanks to Kristy and her staff at Tillie’s who kept me fed and kept me wanting more! What a way to honor your parents and be a blessing to the community at the same time by providing tasty down home meals.
